The correct English translation of Chinese cuisine names is not only an important part of cross-cultural exchanges but also a window to show the characteristics of Chinese culture to foreign friends. In view of this, from the perspective of Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation, we will explore how to use these two translation methods reasonably and flexibly to accurately convey the ‘meaning’ of Chinese food names while retaining specific cultural connotations.This article will provide some preliminary discussion of these issues in this Yes Toronto Translation.
