Chinese classical opera is splendid and brilliant, and it is the sacred mission of translators to make this Chinese cultural treasure go to the world. During the study and practice of opera translation, the author of this paper found that the famous contemporary drama translators, without exception, are thinking about the question in their translation practice, that is, how to make Western readers or audiences better understand Chinese drama. The thinking on this issue coincides with the translation skopos theory of the German functionalist translation theory.
